New EU VAT Changes for Your Shipments
On 1 July 2021, changes to the EU’s VAT rules will impact all of your shipments valued up to €150 to consumers in the EU. As part of its VAT reforms, the EU has launched an Import-One-Stop-Shop (IOSS) platform, specifically for companies shipping goods valued up to €150 to consumers in the EU, to make it easier to settle VAT for these shipments.
How this affects you
We recommend that you prepare now since this could result in delays at customs and unexpected charges for your recipients. As there are only a few weeks to go, we strongly recommend that you take action today to avoid any possible disruption.
Please register for this platform to receive your unique IOSS number. This number must be included in the shipping data provided to MyKartero through your MyKartero shipping platform. Failure to provide your IOSS number can result in customs delays and unnecessary import fees. Alternatively, if you have not registered for IOSS, you must provide MyKartero with a valid payment account to charge import fees to.
Take action now to provide your IOSS number to MyKartero, so you won’t need to manually enter it each time you place a shipment with one of our systems.
There are two options to give us your IOSS number in advance:
Complete a form and email it to us (preferred)
The best way to send us your IOSS number is by completing the Power of Attorney for IOSS form, which can be found as attached, and emailing it to us at [email protected]. This will allow us to enter your IOSS number into our system.
Save your IOSS number in your MyKartero.com profile
If you have a profile on MyKartero.com, you can save your IOSS number there. Or alternatively, you can enter it each time you create a shipment. If you do not have an IOSS number linked to your account, you will need to enter it when creating a shipment that meets the criteria for requiring an IOSS number.
Thank you for choosing MyKartero as your trusted shipping provider.
