Hong Kong

Incident: typhoon

The designated operator of Hong Kong, China, Hongkong Post, asks us to inform that the passage of typhoon Lionrock on 9 October 2021 has had an impact on quality of service for all inbound and outbound mail services (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items).

Operations are gradually resuming, but the impact of the typhoon is expected to last at least one day following the lifting of the typhoon warnings, while the accumulated backlog is cleared.

Macao

Incident: cyclone

Owing to the impact of cyclone Kompasu, which struck Macao on 12 October 2021, all postal services are suspended.

Philippines

End date: 12 October 2021
Incident: Cyclone

Tropical cyclone Kompasu has caused flooding and landslides in northern areas of Luzon, the Philippines’ most populous island, on October 11 and 12. Several bridges and highways had to be closed

Traffic disruptions should be expected in the coming days as clean-up efforts continue.

United States

Incident: flight cancelations

O’Hare International Airport cancels over 300 flights due to severe weather: over 300 flights were cancelled on October 11 at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago due to thunderstorms and heavy rainfalls.

Additionally, numerous flight delays have been reported. Delays to air freight services should therefore be expected.
